Demo CD

In 2006, the Chicago Bass Ensemble received a Community Arts Assistance Program Grant to record a demo CD. After a variety of unrelated non-musical schedule and energy interruptions, the material was recorded in October at Buntrock Hall in Chicago's Symphony Center. Then various other things happened, including the Thanksgiving holiday, but finally in December, the editing had been completed, and copies of the disc made -- and the final report turned in to the city's Department of Cultural Affairs, so we could justify the money spent...!

On the demo, the performers are

and four composers are represented: This means that composers from the sixteenth century to the present are represented, of course with a great gaping hole from about 1700 to 1940, but we're not musicologists, we're bass players! Have some fun!

If you've got a copy of the first release of the disc in your hand (black print on silver disc), please note an error in the disc art: tracks 2 and 3 are listed in reverse order.

If you haven't got a copy of the disc, and would like one, contact us at inquiry@chicagobassensemble.com. Please include your address, e-mail and phone number. You can fully expect us to follow up to see how you like it: after all, we're trying to build an audience, and looking for opportunities to perform.
